HENDRIX SIGNS DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT FOR ACQUISITION OF DEKALB POULTRY RESEARCH, INC.

Today the management boards of Hendrix Poultry Breeders BV (HPB), and Dekalb Poultry Research, Inc have signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition by Hendrix Poultry Breeders BV of Dekalb Poultry Research, Inc.(DPRI). 24 May 2000, an asset purchase agreement  was signed as part of a reorganisation process. HPB will relocate DPRI's genepool, R&D, pureline breeding, production and sales to The Netherlands. Recurrent testing will be continued in North America and several other parts of the world. HPB will continue breeding and marketing of DPRI products under the current brandname DEKALB.

Cost savings can be realised from the combined operations, particularly in the areas of back up facilities and field testing of commercial products" says Thijs Hendrix, President of HPB.
"The combination of DEKALB,  BOVANS and HISEX pure lines into one organisation will give HPB access to a wider range of genetic lines thereby providing better opportunity to supply clients with the ideal product for each market segment" adds Frans van Sambeek, Director Research & Development of HPB.

The 100.000 Parent Stock breeder farm at Clarion, Iowa, the DEKALB MidAmerica Hatchery, with an annual capacity for 7.500.000 female chicks, located in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and the 50% ownership in DEKALB Ozark Hatchery, a 6.500.000 female chicks hatchery, located near Neosho, Missouri, will be integrated into the organisation of Centurion Poultry, Inc, (CPI) based in Lexington, Georgia.
